John Wainwright leads Kollective’s Engineering team. He is an Australian-born computer scientist who has spent over 20 years in Silicon Valley. His diverse experience includes stints at large companies including Apple, Autodesk & Verisign, and many small companies, among them several venture-funded start-ups that he co-founded. John’s background is in computer languages and he is the principal architect and developer of several object-oriented computer languages: Objects-in-C (1990), ScriptX (1992-1996) and MaxScript (1996), which were core to the industry and licensed to companies like Apple and Autodesk. In 2000, he transitioned to internet technologies and co-founded Kontiki/Kollective, where he served as Chief Architect, responsible for the design of the company’s commercial peer-to-peer virtual CDN. In 2008 he co-founded Crowd Science, an internet analytics and audience-modeling startup, and as CTO steered the development of its advanced direct-measurement and machine-learning-based audience targeting platforms.
